If you follow me on social media it looks like I spend 95% of my time either eating or drinking. And to be honest it’s a pretty accurate representation of how I like to spend my time. I’ve lately taken a fancy to Afternoon Tea because what is there to NOT like about it? A combination of sweet, savoury, and the odd glass of champagne here and there, oh an some tea. The Patisserie Valerie Afternoon Tea is a total bargain in my eyes for just £25 for 2 people (£30 for 2 if you want a glass of prosecco each included). For £12.50 pp you get such a steal and if you work out how much you’d spend on a luxe slice of cake, a sandwich and a hot drink in any other place you’d easily fork out more. I love how laidback the Patisserie Valerie afternoon tea is. There’s no need to book and it runs daily, simply pop in whenever you like, whether that be a planned outing, a spontaneous sugar and hot drink fix mid shopping trip and enjoy a lovely afternoon tea treat.
I always underestimate the power of a good afternoon tea, there might be a lot of little food but it certainly fills you up! The Patisserie Valerie afternoon tea includes a lovely savoury collection consisting of Cucumber on white bread, Smoked salmon & cream cheese on brown bread, Egg mayonnaise & cress on brown bread, Ham, spinach & mustard on white bread, Chicken, pesto & sunblazed tomatoes on brown bread and a Mini Vegetable Quiche. I’m a vegetarian with a few complicated allergies and the staff were super accommodating and let us switch up the sandwiches to our taste which was much appreciated. After the sandwiches we tried the scones, a classic mix of fruit scones and plain scones with strawberry/raspberry jams and clotted cream. After we devoured these we enjoyed the patisserie layer and this layer included a mini Victoria sandwich, 2 x mini chocolate éclairs, a mini carrot & walnut cake slice, a mini mixed berry mousse slice and a mini double chocolate mousse slice.
Tesco Direct offer some amazing experiences, including the Afternoon Tea that I had, that included an afternoon tea for 2 plus a cake box of 4 cakes to take home for just £35 – a total steal. (It’s actually currently on offer for £29.75 so go go go!!)
