I love gel nails. And I’ve been thinking about getting an at home gel nail kit for a while, and after doing my research between the brands and kits out there, decided I wanted the Red Carpet Manicure Starter Kit with Pro LED Light, and when I saw a 20% off code on Boxing Day I decided to invest some of my Christmas money on the pro kit! I decided on the pro kit (vs the standard) as I read reviews saying the pro lamp was better, as the other one looked more fiddly. I also liked that you can buy the polishes at Sallys which is easy to get hold of, and online from a variety of retailers and the polishes retail for around £12.
The kit I opted for comes with everything you need for the perfect gel manicure, including a professional LED Light (with timer function) Purify Pre & Post Application Cleanser (59ml) Prep Max Adhesion Sanitizer (9ml) Structure Base Coat Gel (9ml) Brilliance Seal & Shine Top Coat Gel (9ml) Erase Gel Nail Polish Remover (59ml) Revitalize Nourishing Cuticle Oil and LED Gel Polish (9ml) in Red Carpet Reddy, a classic red. The system is super easy to follow, even for a basic nail girl like me. Simply follow the steps and you really can’t mess it up, and I can now manage to do a full manicure in around 15-20 minutes as each step only has to be under the lamp for 30-45 seconds at a time, amazing. It did take me a while to make sure I didn’t get any of the polishes on my fingers instead of the nail, and to make sure I fully covered the nails evenly, but after a few manis I got the swing of things. My top tip though is when it says a thin layer, it means a thin layer, doing a thick coat looks yucky.
If you like gel nails, I cannot recommend this brand enough. My nails always look so professional, super glossy and shiny and stay chip free for ages – the longest i’ve gone before I wanted to change colour was 2 weeks, and they were still chip free then. It may seem pricey at first (around £90) but is a worthwhile investment and if you work out how many gel mani’s you get, it is totally worth it in the long run and you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
Have you tried an at home gel nail polish kit, would you ever invest in one?
