Since moving my beauty stash from uni to home, I have discovered that a) I am a hoarder and b) I have so many products that I have never tried, just sitting in drawers, so crazy. So over the past few weeks I have been making a conscious effort to use up samples, rediscover old favourites and try out some new products. The first product I came across was the Essence Blush Up powder blush in 10 Heat Wave* and I was really excited to give it a try as as soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the MAC Isabel and Ruben Toledo Blush Ombre in Ripe Peach, which is now sold out and has an RRP of £25. And for a fraction of the price I was so excited to give it a go. The packaging is simple, plastic and clear. It’s nothing exciting, but it’s not offensive or tacky and does the job. As well as looking pretty in the pan, you can use the 3 shades separately (which is a little difficult) or you can swirl them all together for a bright, matte peachy coral shade. The pigmentation is really soft and lovely, and definitely buildable whilst also providing a nice subtle glow if that is more your thing. For £3.99 the blush is really lovely on the skin, as well as looking gorgeous in the packaging, I love the coral to orange to pink gradient effect.
The next few products are a few skincare discoveries I had whilst sorting through my stash. The Eve Lom cleaner* is a core cult product and whilst I have never been able to afford a full tub of the stuff, in a Harrods gift with purchase I was sent (post here), it came into my possession and I still forgot to use it, idiot. So I finally got round to using it and wow, I LOVE the stuff. I love how the balm product turns into an oil on the face, removing all makeup and eye makeup, without irritating my eyes and leaving my skin super soft and clear. If I could afford it I would totally invest in a full size tub, a girl can dream eh! I also came across these Rodial Dragons Blood Eye Masks* which were also included in the Harrods gift with purchase, and againo was excited to give them a whirl as I am yet to try anything from Rodial. The de-puffing bio-cellulose masks aim to hydrate and tone the delicate under eye area with Rodials unique dragons bloof complex, arnica extract helps to reduce the appearance of under eye puffiness for an instant, brighter- eyed appaearance. At first my mum and I had a giggle at the novelty of these fun, slightly slimy eye masks, but after the 20-30 minutes were up, we were eager to use them again! The third and fourth skincare products that I am obsessed with, are the Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser*and Skin Rescuer*. The cleanser is a really gentle liquid that cleanses without over-drying or stripping skin whilst containing effective emollients squalene, apricot kernel oil, Vitamin E and avocado oil which maintaining the skins natural balance. The skin rescuer has been going perfectly alongside the cleanser as it reduces visible signs of stress, including skin fatigue and redness, issues I have with my skin. I love how gentle both the Kiehls products are and how they really work to protect and maintain healthy skin with gorgeous ingredients.
As always summer is a season where by eczema can be all over the place, either my skin is fine or the heat irritates my skin and my eczema gets worse. This video by Cetraben with Dr Pixie from Embarassing Bodies is really useful as she talks about how to get the most from your emollient and skin cream to help your eczema as much as you can. I know I should apply my emollient creams more often but I get so lazy, oops.
Have you rooted through your stash recently and found any gems? What skincare or face products are you loving at the moment?
