London Fashion Week 2014 : Fashion Scout With The Body Shop

I’m not an #fblogger, I am not fashionable, and I have zero style. So when The Body Shop invited me along to London Fashion Week the thought terrified me! For the 7th consecutive season The Body Shop was a sponsor for Fashion Scout and I was offered the amazing opportunity to go backstage and to the shows, and whilst it was something totally out of my comfort zone I just had to get involved! On the Sunday showcasing their collections were Apu Jan, Xiao Li, The Swedish School of Textiles and Vita Gottlieb. There was also an ongoing all day Graduate Showcase, so I was really spoilt for choice!

As part of the experience, within the media lounge The Body Shop showcased their stunning new Colour Crush Nail Collection and even had celebrity nail technician Glenis Baptiste there on the Friday and Saturday to provide a stunning nail bar! I had a really fun blue toned manicure done, with a selection of varied nail art and I can’t believe how gorgeous the nail polishes are, they’re definitely the glossiest polishes i’ve ever tried!

I chose to go on the Sunday 14th and met up with fellow Brighton lovely Lyndsay and off we set! Fashion Scout was hosted at the gorgeous Freemasons Hall, just outside of Covent Garden. We got a little lost trying to find the backstage entrance, which involved walking down tiny streets and the bins, to find it was basically where we started off! After getting our wristbands we found the media lounge and we were quickly whisked off backstage to see the looks for our first show of the day, Xiao Li

Backstage was manic and I felt a little in the way, but I can imagine being a makeup artist in that sort of environment must give you such a buzz, it was amazing! We met the gorgeous Lan Nguyen, the head makeup artist for The Body Shop, who took us through the look for the show. The look that was worn for the Xiao Li show consisted of a natural base with just bb cream and primer on the skin, with angled highlighter on the cheekbones. The brows were kept groomed and simple, with eyebrow gel used on the lashes and nothing on the eyelids. The look was all about the mature girly statement lips, with the colour crush lipstick in 205 Passionate Pink applied with a flat brush and then buffed outwards with the fingers so as to avoid a sharp edge and to finish the look, a pop of the colour crush eyeshadow in 310 Berry Cheeky layered over the lipstick to create a flawless finish. Lan also demonstrated how to create the perfect full pout by applying lipstick and lip colour on the centre of the lips, with highlighter on the cupids bow

We also went backstage for The Swedish School of Textiles and Vita Gottlieb shows. With the Vita Gottlieb makeup area being very chilled and inspiring. The Vita Gottlieb show was my favourite of the day and I even managed to sit front row (for the very first time) with the lovely Victoria and Sammi. Vita Gottlieb is an emerging womanswear label with a focus on graphic print, subtle use of colour and innovative panelling. Her SS15 Collection, ‘Microworld’, was inspired by the future of the underwater world and the sensation of floating, with sheer layers over sheers, as ephemeral, gossamer georgette is juxtaposed with thick hand-embroidered coral on pewter and smokey deep blue. The show had me totally mesmerised and the collection was just stunning!

I really want to say a massive thank you to The Body Shop for such an amazing experience, I had an incredible time and I can’t wait for next season, I think i’ve caught the fashion bug!

Did any of you do anything for LFW this season? What are your favourite emerging trends?
