On Thursday evening I was invited to Momos Cafe to celebrate the launch of The Body Shop’s Wild Argan Oil range, with a lovely bunch of bloggers. The cafe was a stunning Moroccan inspired venue, with stunning lanterns covering the ceiling, gorgeous tables, sofas, stools and yummy cocktails and nibbles floating around. The collection was scattered across the tables so that we could play with them, and there was a gorgeous calligrapher that was writing everyone’s names in Arabic – a real art. There was also a lovely henna lady who was super talented and a few ladies floating around giving hand/arm/leg/feet massages! It was a really beautiful evening, and the team gave a really inspirational talk about the products and the project they have running with a group of women in Morocco, where they have created a co-operative with Argan oil! After the talk there was a beautiful belly dance from the most stunning dancer ever, I want a glitzy belly dancing outfit, and her moves!
The nourishing properties of Argan Oil go more than skin deep – the precious oil enriches the lives of hundreds of local Berber women, including their families and communities which is just one of the many reason why I love what The Body Shop do. The Body Shop works in close partnership with Targanine, a local cooperative created by women, for women to help find buyers for their oil, to provide technical assistance and to help the industry develop in a positive way. The Body Shop warmly welcome Targanine as their 26th Community Fair Trade Partner, which is just truly incredible! Purchases from The Body Shop directly empowers local Berber women, giving them the ability to provide their family with stable income, while reaping the benefits of kinship of the other women. The cooperatives invest in social projects such as school rooms for children and adult learning, crèches, doctors’ visits and micro loan facilities.
Argan Oil has made its appearance in the beauty industry, typically as a hair oil. The Body Shop, with a 38-year history in developing naturally inspired skincare, has now created an extensive Wild Argan Oil Bath & Bodycare range. The sensorial, nine-product collection includes an indulgent multi-purpose radiant oil, a unique luxuriant solid oil as well as your favourite Body Butter. Moroccan women indulge in weekly cleansing rituals at their local hammam, where the combination of regular steaming, scrubs and massages leaves their skin radiant and soft. Now you can experience the reinvigorating benefits of a hammam in your own home with The Body Shop Wild Argan Oil Bath & Bodycare range.
“There is an ancient belief that when your skin is glowing, it’s a reflection of a peaceful soul”. The new Wild Argan Oil range is designed to give you a tip-to-toe golden glow every day, and is available from August 13th 2014!
