A student budget doesn’t leave much room for beautyholics, but a savvy sense of bargain hunting for beauty products doesn’t hurt! Having an NUS card is a great way to get some bargains from Superdrug as it allows you to get 10% off your total. Another great way to find some beauty bargains are reduced sections. Often beauty products get reduced because they’ve been a little smushed, battered, might have a lid missing or be discontinued. I’ve picked up many a reduced bargain, especially from Boots. On a recent trip to Marlow one Sunday afternoon with the girls, I found myself in Boots perusing the reduced section, where there were a whole host of reduced lipsticks, eye shadows, Bourjois healthy mix foundations, for just £2.50?! and one Soap and Glory Sexy Motherpucker Extreme Plumping Lipgloss in Pink Out Loud for just £2 (it has an RRP of £10!!). I got to the till to then find out I had enough points to cover the gloss, even better.
I have a pretty thing upper lip, which I hate, so I was keen to see how this plumping lipgloss would work! I’ve never tried a plumping lipgloss, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. A few seconds after applying, I felt a pretty intense zingy, buzzing, tingling in my lips, which was a little uncomfortable at first, and I was tempted to just wipe it off, but I persevered and the effects were noticeable! The weird tingly, buzzing feeling stopped after about 10 minutes, and by then I was left with fuller, juicier looking lips! The plumping effect wore off around the 1-2 hour mark I would say, and the shade is a gorgeous everyday sheer pale pink. Perfect alone, or layered over lipstick! I think this is a great product to whip out as after the plumping effect wears off you’re left with gorgeously nourished and moisturised lips.
Overall I’m glad I tried the plumping gloss and I’m glad I’ve got it in my stash. I think it would look great paired with a really intense eye look, where you want to keep the lips toned down, but still gorgeous!
