On Friday evening I was invited to a very lovely Tea Mixology Workshop at the gorgeous Bluebird Tea Co shop. Bluebird Tea Co are fairly new to town, started up by the amazing Krisi and Mike, but have definitely landed here in Brighton with a bang! Bluebird run these fun evenings at the end of each month and if you get the opportunity you should totally make sure to go. Just check their website for details, and also for some great tea recipes!
As I’m a fairly new tea drinker, the evening was particularly enjoyable and useful, as I learnt quite a bit about different teas, as well as trying some unique and traditional blends out. During the workshop we were also offered unlimited tea cocktails, which sound interesting but tasted absolutely delicious! The cocktails were really imaginative and fun, Mike used to be a mixologist so thought to combine tea and mixology, amazing! My favourites were the Strawberry Lemonade Drop and the Matcha Bee’s Knees.
There were a few stations set up, consisting of a background and history on the varietys of tea, whilst explaining the basics, who knew there was so much to tea! After learning about tea we got to have a tasting session of a large selection of teas which was really fun as I am a newbie to the tea world. The peppermint cream and rhubarb and custard were my favourites! After this we then learnt about matcha and all the health benefits, whilst also getting to try original matcha, lemon matcha, orange matcha and super matcha! The lemon and orange flavours were my favourite, and luckily I got sent away with a mini orange matcha mm. If anyone is looking to try out some Matcha then makesure to head over to the Bluebird website to get 20% ay Matcha related products with the code ‘SophieRoseMatcha‘! After some Matcha fun was the best part, making our own blend of tea! There was a table set up with some base teas such as black tea, rooibos, green tea and white tea, and then blending herbs, inclusions and scents to create the dream blend. I went for a white tea with chamomile, rose and lavender, doesn’t it sound dreamy! We also got to name our special blend, but lacking imagination at the time I went for Sophie’s Tea!
The evening was super fun, and it was a well earned break from the library, and it was really lovely to see the girls as always, ans to get to know the gorgeous Bluebird team! These evenings run at the end of every month and the next one is Friday 27th June from 5:30-9pm!
