My Current Favourite Snack – Homemade Tortilla Crisps

Lately I’ve been going by the motto that if I don’t buy snacks I won’t eat them. This is all good and it does work, but it doesn’t mean I don’t crave the occasional bad thing every now and then! The other night I was having a mega craving for crisps and remembered seeing a post online a while ago about using tortilla wraps. So i did a few Google searches and I got a bit baffled by American type recipes, so I kind of mushed a few together to make up what I was after. I only had Tesco Light Choice wraps, but you can use any tortilla wraps you fancy, using the light choice wraps made these home-made crisps even more healthy than shop-bought crisps! This is very easy and student-budget friendly as well! I’ve found that I like to keep a bag of tortilla wraps in the freezer and then whenever I have a crisps craving, I defrost a few and away I go!

This recipe (can I really call it a recipe, it’s too simple) is so easy and all you need are:

– Tortilla Wraps

– Baking Tray

– Oil

– Salt

– Some cheese/dips/whatever you fancy!

First you want to preheat your oven, I kind of guessed a temperature and I go for around 180-200c. Then I normally line my tray with tin foil, just to make it all a bit easier!

Next you want to get your tortilla wraps, 1-2 is probably enough for one person, and to cut them into triangles. You can do any shape really, but to make them look tortilla-chip like then triangles are good!

Next you want to place them on your baking tray, they can overlap if you don’t have enough space, and then drizzle with a little bit of oil and sprinkle a bit of salt. ( I would suggest brushing them with oil, but I don’t have one of those brush thingys!)

Then pop them in the oven for 5-6 minutes!

I’d say check after 5 minutes, flip them over, shuffle them about a bit and pop in for another few minutes until slightly golden and crispy!

Now if you want melted cheese on top, pop some grated cheese on top for the last few minutes in the oven!

Then take them out, pop them on a plate and voila!

Add some of your favourite dips if you fancy and eat away!

Let me know if you try this or if you have any homemade crisp recipes! Also let me know if you enjoy this sort of post, I have lots of other cheap/student/budget friendly snacks and recipes!

I’d also love to be nominated for the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards under Best New Beauty Blog, but I feel cheeky, but if you’re bored and fancy doing it, i’d appreciate it!
