I wrote this review for K over at A Thing of Beauty during September and with all the hype around the Naked palettes and the MUA Undressed Palette i thought it would be interesting for me to post this review up on my blog, so my newer followers can read my thoughts on this beautiful palette. I bought the Stila ‘In the Light’ Palette on BuyaPowa for an amazing £18.50
(+£1.95) postage and it is amazing! This review is more apt now as i have had this palette around 4 months now and have been using it so much during those months!
The Stila Palette had been on my Lust List for AGES, and when I saw it pop up
on BuyaPowa I knew I had to have it. I originally decided I needed this palette
in my life after I saw other blog posts comparing it to the Naked
Palettes and after I had never gotten round to purchasing one, I decided
this was a fabulous opportunity to try something different and to find a
perfect palette. I do now have the UD Naked Palette and the MUA Undressed Palette, but i do still find myself reaching for this over the other two, a few months on.
The Palette comes in a really cute brown cardboard box with a small booklet
giving you a range of 6 looks that can be created with this palette. I thought
this was a really lovely touch and the looks are lovely! In the lid there is
also a little quote from Sarah Lucero (A celebrity make-up artist working with
Stila I believe), whilst this is sweet, I feel like a large mirror covering
this area would have been much more useful. The palette comes with 10 gorgeous
shades and a Stila Smudge stick eyeliner in the shade Damsel, a matte chocolate
brown. (This alone retails for around £12!)
The shadows are of a lovely consistency and are incredibly soft,
creamy and pigmented, although my shade ‘Luster’ originally required a lot of work to get
some payoff but i find it has loosened up after time and i have no problems with it now. Each pan provides 1.4g of product and the shadows can be used wet
and dry, I have in fact enjoyed using a wet eyeliner brush with the ‘Ebony’
shadow and using this to line my upper lash line when I haven’t wanted to use
the smudgestick. I love the shade selection, as there are 4 matte shades (Bare,
Sandstone, Bliss and Ebony), and the others are not overly glittery once
blended out. The shadow collection includes the best-selling shadow ‘Kitten’
which is written/talked about everywhere, so to have this included was a great
bonus, I absolutely adore the colour and use it all the time.
Wear time is also amazing, these last me a full day without
creasing and minus primer! With primer (I like the MUA Eye primer) the colours are even more vibrant and long-lasting.
The Stila Smudgestick is fabulous, it smudges perfectly,
but once set doesn’t budge all day, I like the fact that it isn’t black, as it
softens up some of the looks. With the wide variety of looks that can be
created with this palette I think a brown eyeliner suits this palette best.
Overall I give this Stila ‘In the Light’ Palette 5 Sophie
Hearts. This is a fabulous palette. I
LOVE the shades Night Sky and Kitten and ever since I received this from
BuyaPowa I have used it so much that i have just hit pan on Kitten! I also can’t wait to try out more Stila
products and palettes! For £25 this is a steal!
Have
you tried this palette? Do you have any Stila products?
