December’s issue of Marie Claire came with either a free Jemma Kidd Instant Lift Skin Perfecting Primer or Jemma Kidd Mascara. The magazine retailed for £3.70 and i decided to try out the primer as i own far too many mascaras. I’ve always heard bloggers and Youtube Guru’s talk about Jemma Kidd’s dewy glow and other fab products so i was excited to give this primer a whirl! The sample was a generous 10 ml tube and the full size retails for £14 and can be found on Asos. Sadly Jemma Kidd have actually now gone into administration and many Jemma Kidd products are hard to find!
‘This Instant Lift perfecting primer by JK Jemma Kidd is an ultra-silky, smoothing primer designed to create a flawless base for make-up application. The details include: flash tensing agent, designed to hydrate lift and firm the skin to help decrease wrinkle depth, lavender essential oils and antioxidant alpine plant extracts to calm the skin and vitamin B3 to restore collagen and reduce redness’.
The tube itself was easy to use, just a simple squeezy tube with a screw lid and a thin nozzle, which provides easy distribution of the product and minimal waste. The primer is of a clear colour and quite a thin gel consistency. There is a slight sweet/synthetic smell, but once applied to the face and has settled onto the skin, the scent is not noticeable.
The primer provides a lovely smooth base and helps to prolong the wear of foundation, nothing completely exceptional in the world of primers, but still a decent primer and one i have enjoyed using. However upon application it does feel a bit tacky, but i found it went away when foundation was applied, but nothing like the silky smooth feel of say the Porefessional by Benefit. I wouldn’t say i would spend the £14 for the full tube, but i will finish this sample size!
Did any of you pick up this issue of Marie Claire? Have you tried any Jemma Kidd products? What is your favourite primer?
